Dr Ossola gave an invited address to the International Congress of Citrus Nurseries on the possible effects of climate change on trees species. The meeting attended by over 120 participants from ten countries was an opportunity to meet after the pandemic to set directions and priorities for the citrus industry. 

California’s Sierra Nevada communities are under mounting pressure as wildfire disasters increase in intensity and frequency. In a bid to find innovative solutions, the United States Forest Service and Net Impact created the Wildfire Resiliency Competition to ask, “how can we do better?”. Pitching an interdisciplinary community based organization approach, Urban Science Lab's MSc student Katie Michel with EPM graduate students Natalie Chapman, Cheryl Winfield and Angelly Tovar brought home the silver medal!

Our lab supports applications for USF’s International Fellowships for urban scholars from the Global South (deadline 9th May 2022) covering topics like urban green planning, nature-based solutions and climate change adaptation.

In our latest study, more than 3,700 people worldwide reported that gardening during the COVID-19 pandemic was a lifeline, helping them to connect to nature, reduce stress, and gain much needed physical activity.
